Season's Greetings!

Just checking in to wish you days full of love and laughter in this time 'twixt holidays.  Walking high on the hill this morning, streams were flowing in the warm sunshine, birds sang as ice and snow melted revealing green grass... it reminded me of the breaking of the White Witch's spell over Narnia in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (pre-hollywood, never see much movies here...)

Reminded me of a "Life Rule" by the crazy, funny Bob Parsons"There's a smile in everything- so find it!"

Whether you're in sticky heat or icy sleet, may you enjoy each and every moment of your holidays.

"There's Magic in Everything- let's find it!"

P.S.
Are you on Facebook?  Would you come visit, then, via the link below, and post a question to the wall or give us a thumbs up!  I'm happy to answer your queries and it will be lovely to have this plaltform to share more harmony, prosperity and success...

Who you are, in your heart of hearts

" I can't remember how I was getting through life, then... I have the impression of a state of existential patience.  I know I didn't dream actively, that was something I('d) let go of...

When I say I followed a dream coming here, I mean the sort of vision that burns dimly in your mind, the little votive light to the Person you know you are at heart, which sputters feebly in the huge dark cathedral of Who You Have To Be To Get By.  I cherished that flame but did not pursue it; (if not for the chance encounter with the man on the bus) I would have kept that flame for nothing; it would have died when I died and no one would have known it ever existed."
-Celia Brayfield's "Sunset"

Life and it's demands will fill your dark cathedral this time of year with sweet things to keep busy and offer fleeting joy and worries.  Spiritual beings can feel excited at the new possibilities to beautify their surroundings and connect hearts with others, then after the excitement, feel a bit empty and lost as the high energy of others fades away in the face of another ordinary year.  We must remember to keep the votive flame of vision burning, together with our hope of growing it, using this time to bring our true dreams into fruition.

Remember to day by day light another small candle to join the first!  We can do this symbolically by
Picturing your vision as clear as you can
Cheering yourself up with it when you feel down moments, and
Reminding yourself of it when trivialities threaten to overwhelm you

In doing so, you'll find in the not too distant future, that the whole of your cathedral (ie. your seemingly going-through-the-motions-life) is lit by tiny, warm sparks.  And this is when the person you know you are at heart finally has the power to capture the castle and fill the dream.

Real magic on Hallow's evening- making your dreams real

as dark closes in quietly, in a pale grey kind of way, i realise just a little too late that we are in that very special evening of the year- the all soul's evening, the Hallowe'en

I don't know if you feel like I do, but I have always loved the myth and mystery shrouding the truth that Anything is Possible.  This night- Halloween- and every night's night and dawn used to hold more promise when we hadn't got anything we wanted yet, and it was all in the future.  But in times of heightened desire, which these all are to us; I don't know what you are wishing for, but it could be

Better health
A more loving and challenging career with creative expression
A perfect relationship
Home & Family...

it's tempting when things are on an even keel to keep them there in the harbour-don't rock the boat by wanting too much, isn't it?  Lifes waters in this way can stay smooth for a while, especially when they have been turbulent for you.  Perhaps the trick is here not to let the feeling of inertia drown you, when you are used to the oxygenated bumps.  When we desire something but not so much that we'll inconvenience ourselves, the way forward is always to Make the Dream Bigger.  See you don't need to have a real- shortage to make a change.  So let's not create one, a real turbulence.  Making the Dream Bigger comes through really the enjoyment of thinking it through.  How would it make your life better?  In what ways would you enjoy it?  How might it enter your life (stay open!)?  Are you ready for it?  What will be the best bits?  What problems would it solve (stay feeling good!)?

Wishing upon a star works, because we clarify what we really want.  Thinking and talking positive works, because we are putting ourselves in a happy reality- and naturally, our environment has to respond.  Moreover, should we act- by dressing up, or wearing a poppy, or anything that is an "act"- it's not real until we are.  Bonfires can't ward of poverty if we feel poor inside.  Witches and fairies can't bring us evil or madness unless that desire exists in us.  This Halloween I am lighting my jam jars in pink, red and yellow to show community spirit and an honour to the farmers, who I know, at last have the resources they need not to worry about how harsh the winter may be.  And of course, to remember my own magic.

If we go for what we think we want, how can we be guaranteed of a happy outcome?

Last night I was unpacking a box which was sealed a few years ago, and came upon a card with the beautiful Desiderata written on it.  Here it is below, may it echo in your mind when a decision calls you to make the right choice.

Regarding making the right choice... have been fascinated lately with this Law of Attraction puzzle; How do we know if what we want- a trip to Paris, a bit of chocolate, that new job- will really bring us happiness?  If we go for what we think we want, how can we be guaranteed of a happy outcome?

Do you know the answer?

I was stumped!  And the question was pressing on me.  How could i know- in advance- if enjoying a few days wandering Paris...  soaking up the autumn sunshine, discovering boutiques and beautiful ideas and munching fresh boulangerie artisan, would be a happy and valuable journey... or just fraught with mishaps and ultimately unfulfilling?

then I discovered, through a random Abraham-Hicks quote, the answer.  And it's going to help me from now on in, with any craving that may arise.

"If the craving comes from an idea that feels good, that inspires and is joyous, a happy outcome is assured.  If it comes from a feeling of emptiness, reaching to fill a hole or compulsion that we should or must do it, then it'll be a struggle", the Law of Attraction reminds us.

Of course!  When in doubt, listen to the feeling.

DESIDERATA
...go placidly amid the noise and haste and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender, be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth, quietly and clearly, and listen to others, even the dull and ignorant; they too have their story.
Avoid loud and agressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter, for always there will seem greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery.  But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons stive for high ideals; and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself.
Especially do not feign affection.  Neither be cynical about love, for in the face of all arricity and disenchantment, it is perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.  But do not distress yourself with imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.  Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe; no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here.  And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore be at peace with God, whatever your labours and aspirations; in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace with your soul.  With all it's sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world.

Be careful.  Strive to be happy.

there was once a little girl who was born into the world tres curious.  She would look around and listen and explore and come back with special treasures, gifts for the ones she loved.  She loved stories of faraway places, English school stories best of all, where they had blazers and hats for this, and lacrosse sticks and tennis shoes for that, and all manner of bits and pieces to make life complicated and easy and elegant.  She loved stories about the hedgerows and blackberries, the roses and the heavy bumblebees, the sweet honeysuckle that grew on the wooden garden gate and, after she'd got a whiff of it, that heady aroma of chaff.

As she looked and she listened and loved and grew taller, she took all the knowing that there were fuschia fairies, and helpful household brownies, and in the whisper of the trees some sort of language you could understand,  and midnight feasts!, and that the leaves of the oak were particularly good for wiping away tears, especially if one was holding tightly to it's big, fatherly arm-branch.

And so kept growing...  Somewhere she learned to share with people who understood, which was beautiful and wonderful!  then she took that somewhere else and it wasn't welcome, not at all, and this was hurtful:  not just to her feelings, but to her body's very survival!  So for a very long time she tried to forget that the trees had something to say to her, and she said, instead, "i don't have to listen to anyone.  all i have to do is get by."  and get by she did, and because she had always been so very good at looking and listening, she was able to make a pretty bon job of a life in the convenient modern world. (which you could guess here, meant more listening to people in the modern world, who had the know-how- oh yes!, and less to fairies, and trees)

Do you think for a moment, when she walks on by now... with a proper job and a household to run and (oh!  the car needs fuel; and oh! really must plan holiday), that where the fuschia fairies laughed and played while she watched with big open eyes and almost (but not quite) disbelief, and where she helped the (very ugly, but oh so funny and kind!) brownies shine school shoes before the rest of her family awoke... that they themselves, the fairies and the brownies, sigh in sorrow and toss in their beds when they should have been asleep hours ago?  That they miss her thinking of them, at all, at all?

Maybe (just an idea, as if it mattered at all) when the wind blows through the oak leaves there is a sense of loss.  Or is it just in his big-strong arm branch- for what is strength for, if not for a girl to climb and hold on to?  And the leaves whisper to themselves, ever so quietly, that they miss the salty brine of tears that don't understand why they are unhappy.

will they all ever be friends again?

2 years later, a greener & more welcoming Doha

A greener and more welcoming.. and, somehow, a seeming more spiritually- safe Doha has welcomed me this week.
It is lovely to catch up with friendly lightworkers from past time here and lots of healers I didn't cross paths with two years ago, as well as more recent arrivees, all contributing to make this a wonderful expat city to enjoy meditation groups, yoga classes, enlightenment book clubs and for practising everyday awareness.  I feel so happy and grateful for the chance to discover all of this!!

Or could it be that:  "When we change the way we look at things...
(the things we look at change)... ?

the zig zag towers in West Bay, in this picture two years ago, are finally finished- see top photo.  can i just say how lovely and green the corniche is looking- and in our compound and around, the trees have grown taller to offer blessed shade.  The turquoise colour of the Gulf has to be seen to be believed.

I am so excited- only five more days til sturdy wings once again deposit me in Doha.

Here are a few things I am looking forward to:

revisiting the lovely friends made when I lived there two years ago...

a beautiful spa treatment at the Four Seasons...

The wonderful warm smiles & delicious food at Caravan Bukhara...

Please do get in touch if you would like feng shui in Doha from July 24 to August 1st.  Many expats are away for the summer, I know, so we continue to offer feng shui love via distance anytime, and I may be out again as soon as October;

Women, Food & God- and inner feng shui

Since hearing about it, I've been fascinated by the idea of Geneen's book, "Women, Food and God."  If you've ever wondered if you spend too much energy thinking about food or admonished yourself for eating, reviews highly recommed it.  You can get a sample chapter here...

I read the sample chapter.  And this bit, below, reminded me of what the difference is, in having feng shui in our lives, all around us, but more importantly- within us, and what is not- which I think is the case, for Geneen's client:

(Geneen in response to a client, a lawyer, saying she overeats when she feels "deficient")

Deficiency sounds awful, but is it?  What does it feel like?
Is it a big hole in her stomach? Her chest? Does it feel like everything
has dropped away and she’s holding on to the edge of a huge abyss
about to fall in? If she stops trying to hold on and lets herself fall, what
would happen? (Remember that all of these are images in her mind.
She’s not really holding onto the edge of an abyss, she’s probably sitting
in a chair. She wouldn’t actually fall anywhere, in her mind, if she
let herself “fall.”) Is emptiness the experience of space or is it something
else? If it’s space and she feels it directly—in her body where it
resides—she might notice if there was anything that is actually scary
or if it's a story she is telling herself."

When you fall- how is the space that supports you?  Are you lifted up on angels' wings, or bounced into a fluffy cloud? At the bottom of your Abyss, are there a team of superheros waiting to catch you and crown you as one of their own?  Once you feel secure that nothing in your environment can harm you and only good energy is coming your way, less demons in general do taunt.

Begin Again?

A completely "Ah-ha!" moment in my life arrived after a teary break-up in New York in 2007... weeping, hiccuping with the unfairness of it all, i said to Self:  "is this it?  is this all it's come to?  to begin AGAIN?"

and Self quietly replied, "Why start again from the beginning when you can move forward?  Ever onwards... ever upwards,"
i listened.
(that new path was amazing.  Good advice, Self!)

For WDP- and a brilliant opportunity xxx

a new home by the sea

we will shortly be moving into a new home by the sea... an apartment, it's got loads of potential- high ceilings, an abundance of open plan living/dining and in need of a refreshed kitchen and bathroom decor... here are a few looks I'm feeling right now, do you like them?

grey walls, dark wood floors and white skirting and ceiling speak of elegance to me...

this room is almost identical in shape and size to a presently empty living space!

i picture keeping it light and bright, so we'll glimpse our ocean view from way across the other side of the room...

isn't a white floor calming?

we plan to put in a fireplace- chimney no object...on a South wall, of course

Exciting times ahead!

Missed connections? Someone's loving you...

oh i do heart heart the "Missed Connections" series by Sophie Blackall.  Do these "almost love-affairs" inspire you, too?  i remember these places in New York, sexy glances exchanged, never to clap eyes on that stranger again... even now, on a sleepy island- or in a small village- or on holiday- it's the chances we don't take when we bump into someone who sends sparks flying inside us that keep us alone at night...

Feng Shui Says:
Blend heaven's grace with man-luck and take advantage of the next warm encounter that surprises you- it may have a very happy ending!

Life Spirals Upwards (even if it doesn't seem this way)

If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them.
~Henry David Thoreau

Why assume you must step back?
When you could step forwards- onwards- instead?
In us all is the power to choose whether a seeming setback represents a stumbling block or a stepping stone..

Flames to dust...

"Well the dogs were barking at a new moon
Whistling a new tune
Hoping it would come soon
And the sun was wondering if it should stay away for a day 'til the feeling went away

baby, just say Yes

i thank You God for most this amazing

day: for the leaping greenly spirits of trees

and a blue true dream of sky; and for everything

which is natural which is infinite which is yes

-ee cummings

for this is the day no more for worrying about what may happen (something out of my control) disappointing others or not being up to it, just in case i bite off more than i can chew or make a fool of myself or i don't like it or can't get away or i say the wrong thing or they don't like me, so bored with this now, completely over this, look at that true blue dream of a sky and baby powder snow on the ground:  this is the day of Yes.

Winning the lottery with the Law of Attraction

'til yesterday, I've always been confused by Abraham-Hick's advice from the non-physical: "It's as easy to create a castle as a button.  It just depends on whether you're focused on a castle, or a button."

I'll have a castle! how 'bout you?

Rather than something so... definite, most of us fantasise at some point in our lives about winning the lottery.  What if we buy lottery tickets every week and we dream of winning the lottery?  What if we incessently talk about it and it's all we can think about?  This is focus, right?

It would seem so from our human perspective.

Yet the Law of Attraction doesn't listen to words, or dreams, or promises to give the filling-station attendant ten percent, and what a lovely person I am!  I deseve to win the lottery!

The universe listens to our vibration.  If we are vibrating...

"I have so many wonderful ideas and there's so much opportunity, I need to win the lottery..."

We're not vibrating the essence of winning the lottery.  We may be in the orchestra, but we're not in tune.  No manner of number combinations are going to come up unless we match the vibration that is winning the lottery.    This isn't speaking from experience, but from feeling, and the law of attraction and the vibration of a lottery win resonate a vibration of these such feelings:   lucky.  unexpected.  confusing.  opportunity.  restriction. responsibility.

Do these words match your vibration?  In other words- are these your matching feelings and emotions, most of the time?

If so, you're close to a lottery win.

If not- and most of us don't like to feel these turbulent emotions, most of the time- let's go back to the castle or the button idea.  Nothing is beyond our reach, and it doesn't take a lottery win to make it happen to us. but need doesn't come into it, gentle "wouldn't it be nice... daydreams, fantasies and real-life experiences do.

What are you focusing on- and most prettily, what are you feeling good about attracting- that is bringing your desires for freedom and security to you?

Your Chinese Horoscope for the Year of the Metal Tiger!

Here are lovely predictions. There's all sorts of soothsaying along the lines of a tumultuous and finance-struck year. But I see nothing in our personal astrology ahead that's scary; just a good shake-up for the cocky ones that need it.

These lovely pictures are especially wonderful because in Chinese Astrology, each sign has it's opposite- that's the individual that annoys us beyond all comprehension, the one 'type' that really pushes all our buttons...

The Monkey and the Tiger are like that.  Can't stand each other.  Can't understand each other.

So, aren't these pictures lovely???

I'm not convinced that opposites are enemies.  This Monkey and Tiger seem to be so happy in each others arms!  And, as a Snake, with my arch-enemy (supposedly) a Pig, my longest love relationship that taught me so much about partnership, and life; as well as my most favourite business interaction, have both been with Pigs. (I never pretended to understand either of them.  I was more... in awe of the way they operated.  But they needed me.  Go figure.)  So bear in mind.  In life, like in horoscopes, there's room to make what you see fit... fit in.

Gong Xi Fa Cai!

RAT (born 1912, 1924, 1936, 1948, 1960, 1972, 1984, 1996, 2008)
Your considerable charm and quick wit will be your saving grace many times in the Tiger year. You’ll gracefully back down from any fights to keep yourself intact. It’s wise to concentrate your efforts on the last six months of 2010 and plan ahead. You’ll develop extra social skills and make many friends. A lucky year for you financially.
Best Tip for Health: Life isn’t going to slow down just yet, so make the most of opportunities to relax..
Best Tip for Love: Late summer will see you happy and contented in matters of the heart
Best Tip for Money: You’ve been dreaming of a holiday- this year you’ll find a great deal that will be well worth the expense.

OX (born 1913, 1925, 1937, 1949, 1961, 1973, 1985, 1997, 2009)
By concentrating on the plans you’ve already put into place you’ll get a good share of luck in the year of the Tiger. The Tiger’s risk-taking bravado isn’t really your style, so in order not to be misunderstood, carry on with your mission as usual. Be ready for unexpected windfalls and lots of fun social activity.

Best Tip for Health: Friends and family members are a great release for you. Enjoy their loving support..
Best Tip for Love: Plan for a romantic December with your special someone
Best Tip for Money: Take advantage of career opportunities in late spring.

TIGER (Born 1914, 1926, 1938, 1950, 1962, 1974, 1986, 1998)
It’s going to be a spectacular year for Tigers, who enjoy the rollercoaster ride of life more than just moseying along. Your successes will be as exciting as your failures, so keep this in mind in all your endeavours. Pick your battles that stimulate your passion, and your strong personality and intelligence will see you all the way to first place. Look after your health and balance party with recovery time so you can play your best everyday.

Best Tip for Health: Put the past behind you and focus on a bright and successful time ahead..
Best Tip for Love: A friendship will blossom and deepen this year with exciting results
Best Tip for Money: All money-making ideas should be fully investigated- you’ve got the chance to really increase your income in 2010.

RABBIT (Born 1915, 1927, 1939, 1951, 1963, 1975, 1987, 1999)
A hectic year for you, Rabbit, but if you overcome your tendency to feel harassed and get disappointed
when things don’t appear to immediately work out in your favour, you will accomplish a lot. Expect to help many people and be helped in return beyond your expectations… this is a lucky year for you and all areas of your life will grow and thrive.

Best Tip for Health: Avoid feeling tired by ensuring you get enough rest and relax with activities that inspire you..
Best Tip for Love: A work-related event will bring a romance opportunity in late summer
Best Tip for Money: A job promotion and chances to shine will be offered throughout the year- jump at the chance to improve your status.

DRAGON (Born 1916, 1928, 1940, 1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000)
You don’t like not being the centre of attention, but this year you’ll be sharing that limelight with a sign just as outgoing and adventurous as you (although not as stylish, true). Temper your competitive streak and look for solutions that benefit all concerned. You’ll have an exciting year and enrich your relationships as others begin to recognize your caring and thoughtful capacities. Being on your best behaviour and looking good will attract wonderful new opportunities.

Best Tip for Health: Take time to look after yourself; neglect will bite you back in years to come..
Best Tip for Love: You’re surrounded by admirers and genuine love will grow from travel together this year
Best Tip for Money: Prepare for an increase in income and you can expect a lucky windfall- but watch you don’t blow it all on an impulse!

SNAKE (Born 1917, 1929, 1941, 1953, 1965, 1977, 1989, 2001)
The wise one, the loner, the thoughtful and clever one- your natural tendencies will allow you to make one or two wonderful things happen for yourself in 2010. Whilst the rest of the world may seem full of action and accomplishments, staying focused on your desires will richly reward you with the outcomes you seek by the Tiger year-end.

Best Tip for Health: Seek out the company of those who make you laugh. You’ll feel better for it..
Best Tip for Love: The second half of the year has you feeling sensual- enjoy your flirting, and fine-tune your powers in the bedroom
Best Tip for Money: Careful is your middle name, but be sure you don’t do yourself a disservice by appearing too aloof in the face of opportunity.

HORSE (Born 1918, 1930, 1942, 1954, 1966, 1978, 1990, 2002)
This is a year for you to jump at every opportunity and perform your best. Many chances are coming your way to improve your finances, home and love life, quality of living and work situations- and you’ll feel as if you’ve the Midas touch as everything you turn your energy towards brings success for you! Don’t sit by and wonder if you should get involved- go for it, and claim your winnings.

Best Tip for Health: Eat and rest well; you need pure energy for a whirlwind, exciting year ahead..
Best Tip for Love: Early autumn, you’re in hot demand
Best Tip for Money: Emotions and activity levels are high, but your spending needn’t be- look for opportunities to do things at better value, else you may needlessly blow your budget.

SHEEP (Born 1919, 1931, 1943, 1955, 1967, 1979, 1991, 2003)
2010 is a luckier year for you and you’ll do well by playing the role that suits you- that of the friend, confidante and peacemaker. Team opportunities and groups bring you luck, and you will find yourself in a position of high esteem as you are an accurate and wise judge of the erratic energy a Tiger year can bring. Instead of treading water in your love and money-life, you’ll find yourself on steadier ground.

Best Tip for Health: Meditation can help you maintain your balance and keep you fresh to take advantage of the opportunities for personal development the year will offer..
Best Tip for Love: Who says love doesn’t happen in an instant? Throughout the summer you’ll have many interesting- possibly romantic- liaisons
Best Tip for Money: if in doubt, seek the advice of a professional. It’s not the year to take financial risks.

MONKEY (Born 1920, 1932, 1944, 1956, 1968, 1980, 1992, 2004)
Monkeys and Tigers are arch-enemies, and to succeed this year, you’re going to have to curb your natural tendencies a little. Facts and truth are worth more than fictions this year, so make sure your actions back up your handshake and charming smile! Lucky you’ve got great friends with wise advice and experience to lighten your load; plus there’s new work opportunities galore. If you’ve wanted to travel or work overseas, meet the person of your dreams, or take a sabbatical, this year will smooth your path.

Best Tip for Health: Plan some time out from your regular routine before the summer; a change of scenery will really recharge your batteries..
Best Tip for Love: Towards the end of summer you’ll find love deepens to a surprising new level
Best Tip for Money: Budget, budget, budget. It’ll be a surprising year and you’ll be thankful you’ve planned ahead.

ROOSTER (Born 1921, 1933, 1945, 1957, 1969, 1981, 1993, 2005)
Success means a lot to you. And you usually get it. This year is going to test your prowess as a winner though; you’re going to have to use diplomacy, rather than bossiness and sheer persistence, to get what you want.
