Beautify your home for Weight-loss

Have you been drawn to Marianne Williamson's newest book, "A Course in Weight-Loss"?

I am making my way, delicate bite by bite, through it-  it's deep reading, often throwing up a mirror to parts of oneself not often looked at, and that's why I was so delighted to find and to share with you a wonderful article here which interviewed Marianne in her sacred home in LA, and put into chewable chunks some of the wonderful points her book enlightens us on.

From it, I've pulled 3 questions we can all ask ourselves to uncover where our weight-loss efforts may be being self-sabotaged.  Read on- do any resonate with you?

1.  Do you have a space in your home dedicated to self-love?                                                                                                        "As Williamson writes, "Darn right you're hungry, but not for food."  Think of all the time spent idling in the kitchen with nervous energy, browsing through the refrigerator. Why not replace that ritual by visiting a space devoted to self-love? With an altar devoted to love and comfort, you have a place to reflect and address your emotions, rather than quiet them by overeating.

It's almost like replacing comfort food with comfort objects -- looking to an inherited lamp or plate, rather than a recipe, to remind you that you're not alone..."

2.  Does the food you choose, reflect the inner beauty that is You?                                                                                           "Beauty in food is no different than beauty on my coffee table," says Williamson.
"A lot of these unhealthy, chemically-processed foods, they're not beautiful," she says. "The packaging might be beautiful,
but when you think about what's in them and how they affect your body... there's no beauty there." going on to say-

"I am as endangered by the presence of too many carbs and chemically-processed foods as anyone," she says. So she's careful to keep these items out of sight and out of mind."

3.  How valuable is this mouthful to you?
"There were times in my life when I would look at some food in my home and say 'I can't throw it out, someone spent good money on that!' But if its really bad for you, the idea that there's something good in indulging in it -- it's kind of insane thinking," she says. "Yes, someone may have paid a lot for those sweets. But, well, you're going to pay a lot if you indulge. You pay with your health."
While going through the contents of your refrigerator or cabinets, ask yourself Williamson's question: "Was buying this an act of self love?" If the answer is no, you know where to throw it."

Pretty... but hardly helpful for willpower!  Body's cravings are strong and natural desires, but can be
minimised by keeping carbohydrate-loaded foods out of sight & mind.

This week, consider for yourself...
1.  Do you have a space in your home dedicated to self-love?
2.  Does the food you choose, reflect the inner beauty that is You?
3.  How valuable is this mouthful to you?

The Places you'll go! on a Saturday morning

oooh I love Dr Seuss, don't you?  Remember these words of encouragement?

"Congratulations!
Today is your day.
You’re off to Great Places!
You’re off and away!
You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes.
You can steer yourself any direction you choose.
You’re on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the guy who’ll decide where to go.
You’ll look up and down streets.
Look’em over with care.
About some you will say, “I don’t choose to go there.”

With your head full of brains and your shoes full of feet, you’re too smart to go down a not-so-good street!

And you may not find any you’ll want to go down.
In that case, of course, you’ll head straight out of town. It’s opener there in the wide open air.

Out there things can happen and frequently do
to people as brainy and footsy as you.

And when things start to happen, don’t worry. Don’t stew.
Just go right along. You’ll start happening too.
Oh! The Places You’ll Go!"

You can find the full version of Dr. Seuss' "oh!  The Places You'll go!"  here.
It's a heart-warming, tear jerking read, especially if you've lived a little...

Speaking of lived a little...
Beautiful blog posts I've been inspired by on this windy, trashy Saturday am by the sea...

Proud of my British Fruit Loop

Happy Sunday, beautifuls!  We are getting ready for a traditional British lunch at the home of Lady Elegant & Mr Pour-the-Wine, Would You Dear?  Husby is so excited he already has his best shirt on, even though he must finish 2 handy-jobs before we stroll to the home of our hosts.  My husband loves Lady Elegant's trifle and has not tasted it in 2 years as both parties travel so much.

I posted the picture above because I'm incredibly proud of Husby at this time.  He's truly become a Fruit Loop in a world of Cheerios.  For a month or more now; for breakfast and for snacks, he's choosing fresh fruit and natural yoghurt + raw nuts.  Cutting down on sugar, shunning processed foods in favour of our favourite lunch- bean sprouts dressed in sesame and soy and more green veg than you can fit in a bowl.  Committed to supplements and knowledgeable about the benefits they are offering him.  Together I am loving so much the time we spend exercising together and his passion for fresh, natural, local and organic!

Just this week we got a result back from the hospital that shows a 21% improvement for him- 12 months ago, it was below par by 4%; now, he's better than the average by a huge margin of 11%!!

We are so excited and I am very proud.  Alot of his lifestyle improvements have followed my own, inspired by  my studies at IIN and I can't recommend the school highly enough to people committed to a career in health.

Husby is still salivating over Lady Elegant's trifle... not long now...
Her own husband is diabetic and well with it; I'm sure our lovely hostess has some healthy eating tips herself up her sleeves.  Stay tuned!

Welcome, July! with the Superhero Walk

I'll never forget my first experience of the Superhero Walk as a awe-inspired witness and participant at one of Tony Robbin's Unleash the Power Within weekends in Sydney.  I'm going to share this great technique with you in a moment, because it is an AMAZING way to start your day... so what better way for YOU to start your July!

Isn't it amazing how when one GREAT thing happens to you, life spirals upwards?  Yesterday; life was charmed.  After a cuppa with an inspiring friend, I got a great phone call, a wolf-whistle walking down the street, half-price on fresh summer raspberries at the co-op, and arrived back home to a fragrant kitchen filled with the smell of a loving lunch made for me.

If you want to start your life spiralling upwards right now, grab a moment now to do the Superhero Walk.  Stand up, shake your body.  Now imagine tied around your shoulders a magical superhero cape- YOURS.  This cape turns you into the best version of unstoppable, uninvincible you.  Take a moment now to feel the weight of it... get a sense of the fabric, the colour, the sound of it swishing about your back; the magic it fills you with.  Feel the inspiration, ideas, charm, and power!  Now, walk with your cape.  Only... you won't be walking.  You'll be striding, strutting, gliding, parading.  Really sink the feeling of power and purpose deep inside, as you become the persona of your own Superhero.

TRY it now.  You'll be amazed how this one great thing... sends your life spiralling upwards.  Also, it's a brand new moon- start your new habit of feeling great everyday, today!

Happy July!  May it be an amazing month of personal power, health and happiness for you!

Flower medicine from Italy

"Because our skin is not simply a boundary, but acts truly as a filter of outside influences both physical and subtle, the healing properties of plants are selectively absorbed through the skin membrane to impart their magic to our very core..." -Dr Michael Tierra

Whilst in Italy I was lucky enough
to collect some beautiful herbs and flowers with which to make tinctures, essences and add to massage oil.

 Jasmine, Lavender, & Rose Otto

Lemon blossom from trees grown in terracotta pots on the sunny terrace overlooking Lake Maggiore... as they have for the past 40 years, each season bearing lemons to dress the local seafood dishes, and make the delicious house "Limoncello", renowned as the best in the region
lemon blossom opens the heart and gives energy & zest...

The abundant herb garden offered me Rosemary, Marjoram, Basil, Lemon Thyme, all under the smiling benevolence of Pere.  His generosity in letting me take pictures and handfuls back to the UK with me reminds me there is more than enough for us all.

.

Plucked under the Piedmont sun a few days before mid-summer, these beautiful samplings of Italian La Dolce Vita will become sacred medicines and provide a beautiful massage, given as a talisman for protection and good luck, or as a herb pillow during long winter months.

Their sunny climate energy is healing to my dear clients who will require it wherever I bring them in the world.

Count these blessings!

Hi beautifuls!  As I'm still piecing together our week in Italy and it's gorgeous meal-lessons, I wanted to remind you of a great way to improve your everyday.  It's the act of Gratitude.  Do you know, it's been so thoroughly proven that an attitude of  GRATITUDE increases general well-being that the exercise of a Gratitude journal is part of course curriculum taught by Dr Tal Ben-Shahar at Harvard University?  Yup, Harvard, that's right!  But how often do we forget to count our blessings, and instead dwell upon the one or two bug-bears we carry along with us?  Let me help you become a happier person this minute by sharing 3 things I'm so blessed by, that I know you share, too!  Join me to count to 3, according to studies, it's all you need daily to start feeling more optimistic on a regular basis...
1.  Eyesight.  Wow.  It's a miracle.  How lucky are we to see and share this beautiful world with the miracle of sight??
the sublime Tagliatelle au Ragu- a dish tradizionale of Bologna
2.  A comfortable space to write to you... with the amazing invention of electricity for lighting, heat and power, a lovely computer and the incredible tool that is the WWW

3.  The power of DESIRE.  What are you hungry for right now?  Water?  Connection?  Understanding?  A big hug?  Sunshine on your body?

"The door to the future is made of our Visions & Expectations.  Desire is the key we hold which unlocks it."

Keep going!

"Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not;the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan "Press On" has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race."

Selling your home with Feng Shui

Having difficulty selling your home?  Here's a remedy from the black hat and compass schools of feng shui- and a little bit of activation with the Law of Attraction-  which I have helped clients implement with great success!

"To sell your home with feng shui, get a photo of it in an advertisement, and paste it to a red piece of paper or cardboard.  Write "sold" or place a sold sticker over it, and be sure to feel confident and happy as you do so.  You can even plan how you're going to celebrate the sale!

Place the picture in the South of the home.  In this area should also be a mirror, ideally round, with a gold frame.  Green leafy plants and lighting candles (best number: nine) here also activates the powerful fire element to encourage change.  Next, in the North West, place pictures of your angels, deity, or spiritual beliefs, any crystals you have, a bamboo or metal windchime, and pretty flowering plants.

Activating the South and the North west simultaneously helps the home pass into wonderful new hands in a very blessed way.

The story behind "Angels By The Sea"

Hi beautifuls!

Celebrating the Christening of "Angels By The Sea"
As you may be aware, there are lots of lovely things happening with me.  Over the past year I've become newly qualified as a Body Massage therapist and have been so beautifully gifted to find my intuitive skills...which got quite scary and invasive when I was in the thick of Feng Shui consultations, a vegan existence, lots of meditation and little need for contact with anything or anyone not involved in the esoteric arts... returning to me in a very healthy and loving way.

Throughout my transition from swinging back the other direction- undergoing surgical procedures and relying on modern medicine; working in the aviation industry and then as a flight attendant in that very black-and-white world- through it all, the Angels and crystals have been my touchstone (forgive the pun!) and true healers. With their very gentle yet firm guidance, and infinite patience, I found myself with:

1.   My beautiful new qualifications, as well as lots of others along the way, including NLP, Life Coaching, Hypnotherapy, Crystology and Personal training;
2.  The most wonderful healing and treatment room, a space of infinite positivity and peace;
3.  An awakened passion to assist others full-time towards health and wellness, healing and extraordinary happiness.

That's where we're at today!
I have called my new practise "Angels By The Sea" and I offer Holistic nutrition; Health Coaching; Life Coaching; Crystal therapy; Cooking for Health; Weight Loss strategies and Massage Therapy by appointment. Also intutive Angel and Tarot readings upon request.

Professionally certified & fully insured (as always) I'm a member of the British Institute of Hypnotherapy, Federation of Holistic Therapists and International Coach Federation. Rest assured you can relax here!

Please get in contact and/or stay tuned as my beautifully faithful friends and fellow healers, for news and special offers.

PS have you checked out my new blog at the Institute of Integrative Nutrition?  Their amazing program is simply the most exciting journey I have ever undertaken!  Everyday is the most wonderful adventure and I am so proud to be a part of it.  For delicious holistic recipes, nutrition news and and therapy tips, please do enjoy reading it here, and check in often.

With love and Blessings,
Samantha.

Leaving you with two great quotes- an old favourite...

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”-  Mark Twain

And a new favourite:

"begin anywhere."- unknown (oh, that sage!)

Loneli-mess

"Ahh... clutter. How I love you.  You fill my days with tension What if someone calls for tea? and shame  How can I exist in such a tip?"

Yesterday I uncovered the meaning of clutter, for generally organised, hygienic, and otherwise nice-quality people like us (that's you. and me.  people like you, and me).

It's not mess.  It's loneli-mess.

Often our home is empty- maybe we live alone- maybe we're travelling lots- or we could have a full house but "absent family".  When we create mess around us, it's because we need to be reminded that there's lots of stuff going on.  The subconscious message is:  we're needed,we're important!  On some level..to clear the clutter...permanently... to get things sorted, once and for all... is just too lonely to even think of.  "what then, what then?"  the ego whispers.

What then?

Love by the Sea... on Santa Monica pier

I hope you enjoy this pretty ode to romance tonight...

This weekend, may a cherished wish come true for you!

"In short, when you change yourself, you change the people and events around you.  By embodying your wish as if it has already occurred, you reprogram not only yourself but also the Universe."

A Yin Yang life: Being vs. Doing

Hello from beautiful Fintry, Scotland...

Bloom where you're planted
- and enjoy your journey today!

"There seem to be two realities operating (for people): a transcendent reality and a conventional reality. Some of us concentrate more on the conventional and get tunnel vision: What do I need to do to reach my career goals? To take care of my family? We get wrapped up in the material realm as though that's all there is.  Others of us who are transcendentally inclined, who focus on inner work and higher spiritual aspirations, subtle realms and all of that, fundamentally want to escape from the demands of the everyday world. As I point out in the third gateway (chapter), 'Energize Your Body,' some of us want to travel out of our bodies before we've even gotten into them.

"We were born into physical bodies, into the material realm, and given challenges, for a reason: not to escape physical life, this reality, but to experience it fully and to learn the lessons it offers. For those of us who ask, ‘Shall I leave everything to God, or shall I take personal responsibility for my life and choices?’ the answer is, 'both.' As a Sufi sage once said, ‘Trust in God but tie your camel.’ In other words, keep your head in the clouds but your feet on the ground."

Except from an article about Dan's book: “Everyday Enlightement

Love on the week-end

"Being in love is so good for you. Often when people are newly in love, things that have been bothering them for a long time get better. Something wonderful is calling the majority of their attention, so they're holding themselves in a better vibrational place, so the stuff they've been wanting all along can now zoom in." -Abraham-Hicks

This weekend, in love with.... (L to R)
summers coming... the wild dog roses have arrived (smelling so divine!)
Bluebell glens and wild Manx garlic
Coconut-scented gorse and heady, sunshine-y days,
Magnificent sunsets on our doorstep
delicious home cooked vegetarian meals... baking, making, creating.  Yum.

I hope you fall in love this weekend, too!

Sweet change

darlings-
I have never felt so good.
I feel lighter, and fresher.
I can't wait to wake up in the morning and make preparations for a new day

I have lost a kilo, somewhere, from years of being the same (healthy) weight for me- and it feels good to be a little bit slimmer, a little bit more toned, with a hundred times more energy.

Last night I went for a walky-run, very late.
(we have had blissful weather this past week on the Isle of Man- warm days with fresh breezes but not blow-your-socks-off-the-line as per your average IOM wind)
At the end, I sat on the wall looking into Port Erin Bay.
(A few pretty sailboats have docked up here of late for the sunshine, their little lights atop mast and cabin lights on below made me feel mellow.  They were looking at our beautiful promenade, string of lights switched on.  People last night had their windows open, sitting reading, or in the company of their lovely large tv, or in chat with their loved one and/or at laptop)
Sitting on this wall, listening to the waves lick the shore, rhythmically, it was a moment of true blessedness.  Complete luxury.

And an amazing thing I noticed- have checked and re-checked, yup, it's really true- is that... I have completely lost my sweet tooth.  Everything tastes sweet to me- in a true energy type of way, like the way I first began to read the energies that governed a room in feng shui.  quick example: I have onions and peppers in the oven now, roasting- I knew they are not done yet, for I recognised they've not released their inherent sweetness.  And my favourite 'sweet' of all, splenda- is just- a mouth violation.

Does this mean anything to you?  To me this is a major health shift- like, plates- platelets? :) shifting.

I will explain how this relates to feng shui and what's the cause later- unless, dear and clever friends- you do see the link and know where this is going, already.
